Throughout recorded history nearly every civilisation has played
a game with a club and ball. In a variety of forms golf has been
played throughout Europe since the middle ages and consisted of
hitting a ball from one predetermined point to another.
On the East Coast of Scotland the game was so widespread that an
act of Parliament was passed to ban the playing of golf on Sundays
and preserve the skills of archery.
Fulneck Golf Club
was founded in 1892 and is believed to be the
oldest golf club in Leeds. The golf club is situated within easy
travelling distance between Leeds and Bradford and is easily
accessible to both local and visitors alike.
A contrasting mix of generous open holes which require a long ball
and tight contoured holes that place emphasis on ball flight and
accuracy, the course at Fulneck Golf Club provides an enjoyable
challenge to all players, regardless of handicap.
Visitors are always made welcome at Fulneck Golf Club and tee
times are available everyday (except Saturday before 2.30pm and
some Sundays for club competitions.)
The Fulneck Golf Club Clubhouse is situated at the top of the hill
overlooking the 1st, 2nd and 9th holes with amazing views of Fulneck
Valley and Tong Hall in the distance.
They welcome golfers, walkers and families to their clubhouse,
making it the ideal place to start and finish your game of golf or
simply just to sample their house beer at their well stocked bar.
